After a long and cold Winter, Spring is here. During this time we've made new friends; they are Swedish and they are visiting us next Sunday(9 girls and 2 boys with their teachers, Magnus and Amelia); they are staying with us for four days because they want to spend Easter with us and these are our plans:We're meeting them at the airport on Sunday. On morning Monday we are going sightseeing; in the afternoon we're going to see the processions. On Tuesday, our students are planning to go together to the beach. On Wednesday we're visiting the Alcazaba and the Castle.I hope they will enjoy their visit.

Summer's Soltice

With the arrival of summer's soltice coincinding with "San Juan" festivity, people make several celebration rituals, lighting up bonfires.

It's a very old festivity celebrated in a lot of places in Europe, It is the shortest night of the year and it celebrates the arrival of summer.

The night of 23th June people often go to the streets make bonfires, dance and jump around the fires, make wishes and in theory take the first bath of the year.

Young people usually go to the beach and make parties, with barbecue and, by luck or misfortune, litres of alcohol.

Hello , I'm Carlos, and I was born In Madrid, but, after my birth, we moved to Móstoles.

The independence war started In Móstoles. The troops of Napoleon wanted go to Portugal, but, actually, Napoleon was conquering all the territories he was passing. But, when they arrived to Móstoles, Its people said, STOP!

On May 2, 1808 the people of Madrid rebelled against the occupation of the city by French troops, provoking a brutal repression by the French Imperial forces and triggering the Peninsular War.

The 2nd May was chosen as a public holiday for the region of Madrid. The place where the artillery barracks of Monteleón was located is now a square called the Plaza 2 de mayo, and the district surrounding the square is known as Malasaña in memory of one of the heroines of the revolt, Manuela Malasaña, who was executed by French troops.

Several memorials to the heroes are located over the city.

WORLD HEALTH DAY
April 7th is the World Health Day. This year's theme is “protecting health from climate change”; the idea is to make people aware of the dangers that climate change may have on our health. Can we, simple ordinary people, help to stop the climate change? According to the World Health Organization, we can reduce the greenhouse gas emissions by increasing the use of bicycles and public transport instead of using our personal cars; this will not only improve air quality and lead to better respiratory health, but it will also reduce obesity, so improving our health.
I've prepared an exercise for my students of Bachillerato (16-18 years old).

Hi, My name is Juan Enrique but my friends call me Juanen and I'm from Malaga (Spain).
In the net my nick is Zell_, I'm 16 years old.

Some of my hobbies are:
Videogames, Rock/Metal music, Skating and one of my dreams is to learn to perform the electric guitar and make a music band... I really wish to make it some day.

Spanish Constitution Day

The 6 December is the Spanish constitution day; it is a very important day because after the death of dictator Francisco Franco in 1975, a general election convened the Constituent Cortes for the purpose of approving the constitution based on the Universal Declaration of Humans Rights. This day commemorates the constitutional referendum of 1978 in which the spanish people approved the actual Spanish Constitution.
It is festivity in Spain and there are several cultural acts to celebrate it.

CONSTITUTION DAY

Hello, my name is Israel. Iam 16 years old. I have one sister, she is older than I.
I like hip-hop, going out with my firends, playing with computers and singin songs
of rap. In the future I want to be anengineer in telecomunications. I like studying
Maths and foreign languages, Ithink English is inportant for me. And now I´m going
to speak about the Spanish constitution day.

The Spanish constitution was created in 1978 to restore the laws. The president
Adolfo Suarez Gonzales sent the new laws in October 1978 to the court, these
laws subsequentlythey will be approved. Nowadays this day lack so of action
politique, this day is a simple holiday day, but in some school there are readings
for this day

Hi, my name is Patrycja. I`m seventeen. I live in Malaga, in the south of
Spain, but I am polish.
I have one sister and one brother. I love pop rock music, and I also enjoy
cooking. I don`t speak english very well, but I think I can learn it
someday. I want to speak it properly beacause I think it`s very important.
If you know english you can live almost everywhere. Now, I want to tell you
something about Spain. Today is October 12 and it`s the Hispanic Day
(National day of Spain). It`s celebrated annually on October 12, to
commemorate the exact date in 1492 when Christopher Columbus discovered
America. To commemorate it, there is a parade led by the military (in
Madrid) presided by the Spanish King (Juan Carlos)
In the Autonomous community of Aragon this date also commemorates Our Lady
of the Pilar.

Hi! My name is Vero. I am 16 years old. I live in Malaga (Spain). I go to tell you about Easter. This festivity takes place every year everywhere in Spain. The date changes according to the full moon. But it is normaly in March or April. The holiday has a great religious sense, but today it has a commercial sense too and many tourists come to Spain to see the processions.
